Pawn Sacrifice - James Newton Howard

10/2/15

Picture
Wait, is that his game plan?
  • What You Will Hear:  Standard JNH instrumentation featuring some piano and clarinet.
  • Standout Tracks:  There’s Usually One Right Move, Bobby Wins
  • Will You Be Humming Along?  No, but I do love those JNH chord structures.
  • The score this makes me want to dust off:  Michael Clayton – James Newton Howard
  • Will I come back to it?  No.  The final track is enjoyable, and I am a huge fan of James Newton Howard’s harmonic vocabulary.  But, there just isn’t much more than moody strings.
