The Mountain Between us - Ramin Djawadi |

What You Will Hear: Strings, piano, some French horn, and a bit of guitar towards the end.
Standout Tracks: The Mountain Between Us, Don’t Say Anything, Separation, Not Today, I Feel Alive, Meaning of Life Will You Be Humming Along? The main theme is sweeping, but not easily identifiable. It is the repeated triplets in the piano hold everything together. The album this makes me want to dust off: Downton Abbey – John Lunn Will I come back to it? Yes. For he most part, The Mountain Between Us is an uplifting and/or soothing experience (see: The Mountain Between Us). Djawadi has crafted a thoughtful and passionate string orchestra sound. Even some of the darker moments of the story are kept light with the constant motion in the piano (see: I’m Sorry). As things progress, these darker moments do become more ethereal and stagnant. While the middle of this album is quite skip-worthy, the final third (see: Separation) contains more motion and provides a welcome return to the style of the opening tracks. There is nothing groundbreaking here, and (besides the opening or closing tracks) you won’t hear any single track that steals the show. But, you’ll most likely enjoy this score if you need something calm and pretty in the background. I’ll return for the standout tracks on a regular basis. |
