What You Will Hear: The score centers on piano. Sometimes soaring. Sometimes playful. Sometimes menacing. No matter the tone, there is a ton of rich and wonderful writing for the piano, strings, and... YES!... woodwinds.
Standout Tracks: I'm obsessed with finding complete scores that are golden from start to finish. This is one of those rare cases. I happily award this score a gold star. Congrats, Mr. Desplat! Display it on your refrigerator proudly. High fives all around! Will you be humming along? Yes. Uplifting main theme - check out the first and last tracks. The score this makes me want to dust off: A Beautiful Mind - James Horner Will I come back to it? Big time yes. This might be my favorite Desplat score to date. His ability to use the full range of an orchestra is mesmerizing. |
