What You Will Hear: The full orchestra as it is meant to be heard. Every emotion perfectly translated into "instrument speak." It is adventurous, wondrous, loving, pensive, playful, and everything else in between.
Standout Tracks: Every track is worth a listen - Gold Star! Will you be humming along? There's so much great music here that I can't pick out one great moment that stayed with me. But, as I listened I found myself easily picking up the melodies and harmonies. Great scores just make sense right away; after one listen I feel like I've heard it a thousand times. The score this makes me want to dust off: J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan - Benjamin Wallfisch Will I come back to it? Magic. Pure magic. YES. Without seeing the movie, I already care deeply about the characters. That's strong film scoring. So many moments filled me with wonder and awe. When I recently reviewed the expanded release of The Last Starfighter, I found myself muttering a common lament: "they don't make them like this anymore." I was wrong. Paper Planes is exactly what a fantastic score sounds like from start to finish. This will end up on many "best of" lists for 2015. |
