Still Alice - Ilan Eshkeri |

What You Will Hear: A very delicate ensemble including piano and strings (a trio?). Mostly tonal and beautiful, sometimes atonal and nerve-racking. There's a nice cover of "If I Had A Boat."
Standout Tracks: L.A. Drive (Original), Running, Alice Tells The Children, Beach, Butterfly, Speech, Pills, Souls Rising, It Was About Love Will you be humming along? There' s a wonderful little motif that shows up quiet often. Check out "Running" for a lively version. See "Speech" for a somber take on the theme. The score this makes me want to dust off: Belle - Rachel Portman Will I come back to it? Yes. This score somehow manages to sound fragile and hopeful all at the same time. I can't explain the music theory after just one listen, but it is a fantastic accomplishment by Mr. Eshkeri. The mixture of beauty and dissonance will (I'm sure) do well with accompanying a story about the horrible realities of Alzheimer's. It must be a heartbreaking story - and this music is perfect for it. |
